Writing Retreat

Oh, the irony!

I leave this afternoon to attend a 4-day writing symposium—a writer’s retreat, if you will—in Skagway, just north of Haines. While I’m taking my computer along, I do not plan to update this blog until after I return Sunday.

That’s right, while I’m off writing, I will be off writing the blog.

The event I’m attending is the North Words Writers Symposium. My neighbor is one of the founders. I’ve known about it for a few years, but will attend for the first time this week.

Despite having read the Website and listened to my friend’s descriptions, I’m not entirely sure what all will go on. I plan, though, to dedicate my attention to the symposium, so I don’t intend to pursue any distractions, such as updating this blog.

As a further irony, this will be only my second visit to Skagway in my life, despite having done most of my growing up in Southeast Alaska and living so close for the last 10 years. Michelle and I have talked about day trips and more, but have never gotten around to it till now.

Please check this Sunday, probably after noon, for the next blog post. If I don’t make it then, I’ll definitely have something up Monday. Who knows, maybe you’ll notice an improvement in my writing after that?

I hope so.
