I’m headed back to Alaska Rod’s on Main Street in Haines to be their Guest Artist for First Friday on September 7th.
First Friday is always a good time in downtown Haines. Shops and venues open late and host local artists, writers, and musicians. It runs loosely from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
If you can make it, I’d love to see you! Once again, I’ll be signing my two books, Sacred Coffee: A “Homesteader’s” Paradigm and Shy Ghosts Dancing: Dark Tales from Southeast Alaska, and displaying our homestead made soaps. We just released a new batch of Russian tea soap, perfect for autumn. Heck, I’ll even sign a cake of soap if you want . . . . Also, Alaska Rod’s sells the CD audio book version of Sacred Coffee.
I did this back in March, and had a lot of fun (see First Friday Featured Artist at Alaska Rod’s). I imagine it’ll be a pretty small crowd this time around, as our local newspaper printed a round up of First Friday features that didn’t mention Alaska Rod’s or my appearance there. But, that’s kind of how things go around here sometimes. Hopefully, word of mouth will spread. And, as always, I’m going to miss out on a lot of great offerings around town by committing to stay in one place all evening—that’s a drawback, but it’ll be worthwhile.
Come to think of it, I’ll tour Alaska Rod’s myself! I haven’t stopped in to look around since the store on the balcony above them moved out, and they expanded into the space. If you haven’t seen this part of the historic Chisel Building, it’s worth seeing. Sadly, that also means you probably never got to eat pizza from Grizzly Greg’s or Porcupine Pete’s . . . .
I’m still trying to come up with a premium of some sort. It might be free soap samples, maybe something else. Come see me Friday night, and we’ll both be surprised!
