The Short Story Collection Moves Forward

I should have known that the most recent set of files for my book of short stories, Shy Ghosts Dancing: Dark Tales from Southeast Alaska, would be accepted by the printer. Why? Because the next morning I made a pretty major change to a graphic used in the proofs! Murphy is alive and well, and his Law still holds sway.

That’s okay, though! I’m going to let it go, since no one will notice the problem but me. For that reason, I ordered a proof copy of the book, which means I’m moving forward toward publication. I received word this morning that the proof has been shipped already.

This is exciting, because it means the book of more or less “scary” stories might be released just before Halloween. That would be great, if I can swing it. Being seasonal appeals to me, as you might expect if you follow this blog.

While I’m waiting for the mail, my next step is to create an E-Book version of the collection in Kindle and hopefully other formats. I hope to have that on sale about a week or two before the hard copy becomes available, but if the process goes well, I may put it out there sooner.

I have been posting updates on the page I set up to promote the book. If you’re as excited as I am about this (or even half!) you can check for news there. I’m beginning to get emails from people asking to be notified electronically when the book’s available. You can sign up for that service at the bottom of the book’s page.

Today is Winter’s Day.
