We’re Experiencing Technical Difficulties

I should have been able to post a new essay on the blog this morning, but as part of my computer upgrade, I downloaded the new, “improved” version of WordPress, the software I use to create the blog.

Since then, I haven’t been able to perform even the simplest of tasks. It’s a problem I’ll need to work out before I can continue. Hopefully, I’ll get it fixed soon. Sorry to disappoint. Please stand by!

I upgraded to a new Macbook Pro (though it was due to my losing my old laptop on recent travel.) I had to upgrade the software I use with my Verizon USB modem and not only was internet connectivity sporadic during my last two weeks in the mountains due to compatibility issues (I think), but my Macbook actually started crashing with some frequency. I miss my old Macbook!

Also noticed since you got the new computer that I would get an “already submitted” notice when I pressed submit. The comment appears ok, but just get the message, Ain’t new software fun!

Things seemed to work as normal when I submitted the above. Just a mystery! ha!

Hi Charity, this new Macbook replaces a Macbook Pro that’s old enough that the “new” computer matches or exceeds its specs. It was hard to “settle” for something less, but I’m glad I did. I’m afraid, though, that Mac is beginning to let excellence slide, seeing that bad is good enough to sell computers after all.

Hope connectivity issues didn’t harsh your mountain retreat buzz!

Linn, that seems to be a very common glitch. I rarely comment on Web sites, but almost every time I do, I get that same message! When my brother started his blog I tried to trouble shoot his comments section but gave up, it just never worked for me.

The conventional wisdom with WordPress is to wait a month or so after each upgrade, because the likelihood of new glitchery is so high. I couldn’t wait this time, because I’d been so long without upgrading, since their updates had eclipsed my old OS for the new. Actually, that may be my problem–I may have passed up a few fixes along the way by not upgrading every time.
