Last year at this time I doubted that anyone would fear the possibility of a too-warm February in our region (see Groundhog Day, Alaska Style). This year, I see I could be wrong.
While much of the nation endures unusually cold weather, ours is quite mild, extremely rare for February. Even as our temperatures dip from the recent highs (we recorded 51° a few days ago) we are enjoying plenty of sunshine.
Yesterday, Michelle took this photo in the yard. She’s documenting the state of buds on various plants. Her composition of swelling alder growth backed by sun drenched solar array seemed like a lovely image symbolizing the coming of spring.
