Canal, Alaska.
When
making sail, everyone has their station. The Captain raises the halyard, the
First Mate raises the
topping lift, and the Bosun is out of the way, but watchful. Rig
adjustments in '02 allow one person to make sail alone.
A
sharp lookout!
Galley detail.
Selkie ended the 2001 season anchored at Dotson's Landing, Amalga Harbor. She dried out at any tide lower than 5 feet. The neighbors kept a careful watch on her, but the anchorage is very quiet, well protected, and breathtakingly beautiful. Day sails from there got harder and harder as winter set in, but we had some good trips before our trailer arrived from a company down south, and we pulled her out for the year.
