Construction continues . . .

November 14, 1999, one year after construction began, we set the upperdeck in place.
The boss conducts an inspection tour.
"You call this headroom?"
We pass inspection. Time to clean up and celebrate the anniversary!
The deck is now secure. We painted, lined and closed up the cockpit benches. We took a break for Christmas. A wind storm tore off the shelter and knocked the boat off its blocks! We got it all repaired by St. Stephen's Day.
We used the leeboards from Phil Bolger's Wish II design.
After rough-cutting the shape, I sheetrock screwed together the 4 pieces (2 pieces of ply per board) and shaped the edges.
The boomkin housing is a design of my own. Works well!
A slight set back! I fitted the rudder platform (to original design) with help from my brother and Seth Macinko. We discovered I had built the rudder longer than designed, and the hole to receive it shorter than designed. The hole had to be enlarged, the rudder had to be trimmed, and an addition butted to the platform.
The sails have arrived!
